Research Assistant - salary grade 13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

under the reserve that funds are granted; part-time employment may be possible

The Chair of Entrepreneurship at Technische Universität Berlin is seeking a committed Research Assistant to support research, teaching and third-party funded projects, with a particular focus on AI-based analysis and programming.

Tasks

  • Conduct research in the field of AI-based success prediction and sustainability assessment of business plans, as well as in entrepreneurship.
  • Prepare datasets and select appropriate deep learning architectures.
  • Support the development of an AI-based system for evaluating business models and integrating it into a web application.
  • Coordinate, organize, and contribute to the teaching modules "Venture Campus" and "Treasure Hunting".

Requirements

  • Successfully completed scientific university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in social and economic sciences.
  • Very good written and spoken English skills.
  • Good knowledge of German required or willingness to acquire the missing language skills.
  • Knowledge in artificial intelligence (data scraping, text and data analytics).
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with relevant libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Experience with natural language processing (NLP) methods and possibly transformer-based models.
  • General programming skills.
  • Interest in entrepreneurship and innovative teaching formats.
  • Experience in teaching and/or conducting workshops.

Desirable:

  • Strong communication skills and enjoyment of intercultural collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently, in a structured and team-oriented manner.
  • Interest in international development cooperation.
  • Experience in data analysis, modeling, and implementing AI-based applications.
  • Interest in the practical application of research results in digital tools and teaching formats.
  • Knowledge in preprocessing large volumes of unstructured text data.
  • Experience collaborating with international universities or organizations.
  • Knowledge of funding and third-party grant management.
