Research Assistant - 0.75 working-time

Your responsibility

The Research Assistant will conduct laboratory experiments under Mars simulated conditions, which will be conducted in a specialized chamber, and will as well work in the hyperarid Atacama Desert. The researcher will use specific microorganism and evaluate what biomarkers remain after exposure to Mars or Mars-like conditions.

Your profile

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in biology, physics, chemistry, geology, or a related field
  • Experience in working in the field of planetary habitability
  • Good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills
  • Experience in working on the habitability of planetary surfaces, especially on how it relates to Mars or hyperarid areas on Earth
  • Experience on radiation shielding and how well different materials protect biomolecules is desirable
  • Both laboratory and field experience would be beneficial
