Student assistant (80 hours per month)
Your responsibility
The position is part of the EU EIC Pathfinder project gEICko, which brings together the expertise of six European partner institutions and focuses on the active removal of space debris. The project aims to develop and test a prototype capture kit that enables docking with non-cooperative targets using gecko-inspired adhesive materials. The design, integration, and testing activities are led by TU Berlin. We are seeking a student assistant to support the project's Systems Engineering activities.
- Support mission and orbit analyses for the evaluation of technical concepts and boundary conditions, as well as the design and assessment of mission scenarios (50%)
- Support systems engineering activities, including requirements definition and management, maintenance of system budgets (e.g. mass, power, and propellant budgets), and the definition and documentation of technical interfaces (35%)
- Support verification and validation activities, including the planning, execution, and evaluation of test campaigns, as well as the analysis of technical data (10%)
- Support with project documentation (5%)
Your profile
Mandatory Requirements:
- Excellent knowledge of space engineering and space systems, as well as mission analysis, orbital mechanics, and sustainable space applications
- Basic knowledge of systems engineering and the development of complex technical systems
- Initial experience in the modelling and analysis of space missions, as well as in technical documentation
- Experience using a tool for programming, simulation, or technical data analysis (Python, MATLAB, GMAT, or STK)
- Very good written and spoken English skills
Optional criteria::
- Initial practical experience in Systems Engineering
- Good knowledge of requirements management, MBSE, or related tools and methodologies
- Structured and independent working style, combined with strong communication and teamwork skills
