About us
The Engineering Acoustics group conducts teaching and research in various areas of
engineering acoustics, covering the entire chain from sound generation and sound
propagation to sound perception. A particular focus is placed on noise emitted by traffic and machinery systems and its effects on humans and the environment. We offer an inclusive and
appreciative working atmosphere within a committed and diverse team, numerous
opportunities for further training, room for individual ideas, and mentoring by experienced researchers. Flexible working time models are available, as is the option of partially working from home.
Your responsibility
- Participation in teaching activities at the Department of Engineering Acoustics, including the supervision of courses
- Co-supervision of student thesis projects
- Research in at least one of the following areas:
- Aeroacoustic / flow-acoustic models
- Experimental methods in aeroacoustics
- Characterization of sound sources using microphone arrays
- Generation, characterization, and transmission of structure-borne sound - Participation in research and teaching organization
- Contribution to the conception of research projects
Your profile
- Successfully completed academic university degree (Master, Diplom, or equivalent) in an engineering discipline or a field closely related to engineering acoustics
- Very good and in-depth knowledge in the field of engineering acoustics
- Good knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
- Fluid mechanics
- Solid mechanics - Programming experience; knowledge of the Python programming language
- Ability to teach in German and/or English is required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills
- Willingness and ability to work in a diverse team desirable
- Experience with acoustic measurements desirable
- Experience with numerical simulations is a plus
