2 Positions – Student assistant (40 hours per month)

Your responsibility

The DEEM Lab (https://deem.berlin) conducts research at the intersection of data engineering and machine learning. We are looking for two dedicated and responsible Student Research Assistants to support our lab members in their research activities.   • Reviewing relevant literature and implementations (20%)
  • Assistance with implementation of features as well as documentation of this code (40%)
  • Assistance with visualization of results (10%)
  • Support for documenting scientific results and code (10%)
  • Assistance with writing tests and benchmarks (20%).

Student assistants will also be included as a co-author on the resulting scientific publications.

Your profile

Mandatory criteria:

  • Extensive knowledge of machine learning models and workflows
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Experience using libraries (NumPy, Pandas, or PyTorch)
  • Experience with open-source development practices or contributions to open-source projects
  • Experience writing clean, modular, and well-documented Python code
  • Willingness to perform the work primarily on the TU Berlin campus
  • Good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills

Optional criteria:

  • Research experience in machine learning or data systems
  • Good knowledge about popular agentic systems for ML Engineering
