Student assistant (80 hours per month)

Your responsibility

The HAKIV project focuses on the development, and in particular the testing and verification, of an Attitude and Orbit Control System (AOCS). As part of the project, a demonstrator is being built to serve as an environment for robust controllers. First, core components are tested and verified. After defining functional test cases, the following test campaigns are conducted with the complete AOCS: thermal, mechanical, and radiation. To support the planning, setup, execution, and evaluation of testing and verification for both the core components and the overall AOCS, a dedicated student assistant is being sought.

(10%) Support in test planning and documentation for core components and campaigns

(30%) Support in setting up the test environment using MATLAB/Simulink and Speedgoat real-time target computers, based on hardware-in-the-loop simulation

(40%) Support in executing tests for core components and campaigns, in accordance with relevant space standards such as ECSS

(20%) Support in the evaluation, analysis, and preparation of test results

Your profile

Must-have Criteria:

  • Very good knowledge in the field of testing, verification, or validation of technical systems
  • Good knowledge of structured creation of technical documentation (test setups, test protocols)
  • Strong proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink
  • Proficiency in Python, C, or C++
  • Good German and/or English skills required; willingness to acquire missing language skills

Nice-to-have Criteria:

  • Practical experience in Hardware-in-the-Loop or Embedded testing
  • Good knowledge of Attitude and/or Orbit Control
  • Experience with space-related standards (ECSS)
  • Independent, careful, and analytical way of working
