Student assistant (60 hours per month)

Your responsibility

Supporting activities under supervision in the “EPOCH" research project. EPOCH (Enhanced Privacy Oriented Credential Handling) develops a privacy-enhancing framework for the full lifecycle of digital credentials that supports both centralized Single Sign-On systems and decentralized Self-Sovereign Identity approaches. By leveraging Zero-Knowledge Proofs, the project aims to minimize information disclosure while enabling secure and interoperable authentication for both humans and machines (e.g., IoT environments).

  • Support in the implementation of a prototype (40%)
  • Support in testing, analysis, and documentation of research results (40%)
  • Research activities (30%)

Your profile

Mandatory criteria:

  • Enrollment at a German university
  • Good knowledge of basic programming concepts such as OOP, data structures, and database management
  • Experience in app development with Android or iOS
  • Good knowledge of the authentication protocols OAuth 2.0, OpenIDConnect, or SAML
  • Good knowledge of distributed ledger technologies (blockchains, PoW/PoS, smart contracts, or hashing)
  • Good written and spoken German and English skills

Optional criteria:

  • Good knowledge of cryptography (Symmetric/ Asymmetric encryption or digital signatures algorithms)
  • Good knowledge of privacy-preserving systems (Zero-Knowledge Proofs or selective disclosure of digital credentials)
  • Good knowledge of Self-Sovereign Identity paradigms (Decentralized Identity or Verifiable Credentials)
  • Good communication skills, creative and critical thinking skills, and team oriented work ethics
